The cooling fan on my iMac 3.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo has suddenly come on from start up and is running very fast and is also very loud. Can anyone advise me what to do with this. The machine is still under warranty and is only 6 months old.

That appears to be controlled in firmware. Is there a new version you could apply?

I had the same problem on an old Intel iMac and carried it to the Genius Bar. They ran a quick test and it said the center fan was failing and they replaced it under Apple Care for me.
Take it in for check
