HELP!! My Powerbook WON'T CHARGE my Battery!
Hello, I have a 1GHZ Aluminum 15" Powerbook.
The Powerbook will no longer charge my battery. I bought a new battery, so I know it is the powerbook and not the batteries.
It will run fine off of the power plug, it will even run fine off of the battery, it just won't RE-charge the battery.
What can I do to charge my powerbook batteries?
I called Apple and they say no one makes an external battery charger.
Any advice or help will be appreciated!!!

There is a procedure called Reseting the Power Manager that you ought to perform. I don't know how you do it on that particular model but it should be easy to find on the Apple website under Support. Just sear for power manager under your PB model.

I just got asked abou new battery for mine at TEKSERVE and was told that it is best to also change the PRAM internal battery at the same time. For some reason if you don't the new battery might not charge and might be damaged. The battery is about $10 and they install it at no charge.

It sounds as if there is one of two options for you
Have your powerbook repaired. If the unit is less than one year old or you have Applecare, this will be free
Find a cheap laptop broken in other areas. I know at one point we had a damaged unit with a bad screen, for instance and determined it wasn't worth repairing.
In the long run I think you would be best served by repairing the unit so you can keep your batteries charged just by plugging the unit in IMHO.

I'm surprised that the person you spoke with from Apple didn't suggest resetting the power management unit.
