iBook battery only charges to 95%

I usually keep my iBook plugged in and I've noticed lately that it only charges to 95%.

only charges to 95%. I recently plugged it into a UPS but I have also plugged it into other outlets and the 95% things still remains. Is this a sign the battery is going bad? Should I let it run down to empty and recharge it? I did that about two months ago -- this behaviour has started since then.

Mine does the same, apparently it's designed to avoid small discharge-charge cycles which are not good for the battery. If you unplug and let it go below 95% then charge it should go a all the up to 100%.

When I bought my iBook in sept 2001 the battery would always charge up to 100%. I bought a replacement battery 3 weeks ago and it almost never goes beyond 98% or 99%. Is this because the new battery has this feature you just mentioned?

I don't know. I don't believe it's in the battery and there's an apple knowledge base article here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=88344 which describes what i see.
