MBP battery performance in Leopard?

My MBP seems to have lost about 45mins of life.

No. I'm impressed with the battery performance of MBP's. Both machines here give comfortably over 4 hours on a full charge.

Wow! What models have got? I really struggle to get more than 3hrs out of my 2.16GHz C2D even with the wireless turned off.

Try resetting your SMC.

This 2.5Ghz 15" with 4 GB ram is showing a tad over 5 hours as I write. With Airport and Bluetooth on. Screen brightness is at 50%. My wifes slightly older 2.2Ghz model is similarly impressive.

I suspect the same local, negative, RDF that causes my car insurance to be inexplicably higher than everyone elses also applies to battery life for machines in my house. Never seen more than 3.5 hrs predicted on my 17" 2.4GHz MBP with 2GB RAM...

OK. It shows 5hr, but do you actually get about that much usage out of it?

For a 17" I'm not surprised that battery life is lower, but even so yours is achieving the same as my 15" :( It's not like I thrash it either, mainly email/web stuff, document writing (Word/Openoffice), code writing and ssh connections to work.

Maybe I'll fiddle some more with the energy saving parameters. Have people found what the optimal balance is between energy saving and usability or is it more a personal choice?

My current Battery Settings: Computer to sleep: 5min Display to sleep: 1min Put HD to sleep: yes Reduce brightness: yes Automatically reduce sleep: yes

No, but it comfortably exceeds 4 hours using airport.
