OS on Lombard having trouble sleeping

It didn't happen with the beta or 10.0s. But since 10.1.0 when putting the laptop to sleep, approximately 1 in 4 times it hangs. Normally the screen blips twice then the machine sleeps. Once in four, sometimes, back to back, the screen blips once then is dimmed (not off - the cover's apple remains lighted). This does not happen when booted from 9. Interestingly, when going to sleep in 9 the screen blips but once. Diagnostics find no problems. I have reformatted the drive, twice. No changes.

Some have thought firewire. The machine did not come with firewire installed but I do use an Adaptec card. Whatever. The problem was present before I began using the card.

Since changing my CD/DVD drive to a "Matshita" one in my Pismo this happens to me too, Taking it out makes the computer sleep like a baby again ... Do we have the same CD ?

No. In fact, right now I don't have any drive in the bay, just the dummy thing. I was beginning to think the drive was the problem because it'd been at least 10 sleeps since the last hang, but damned if it didn't just do so with the dummy in there. I had decided it was having Entourage hidden that was intermittently hanging the machine. I thought that because it never hung as long as Entourage was not hidden. I then switched to my VST duperdisk drive and it didn't hang any of the times Entourage was hidden, and I tried a bunch. So, I thought it was the CD/DVD drive (stock) and began putting in the dummy. Then this latest hang. In all of this I have used several third party Aqua apps that are nothing more than GUIs for UNIX commands for various tasks. Maybe they did something to help the problem. Anyway, I'm back to suspecting Entourage.
