PRAM batteries

So can anyone recommend where I might buy one for my 8600 please?

I've done an exhaustive search on the web and can't find an online source anywhere in the UK. (unless I've missed something) I don't have any obviously suitable retailers locally, unless PC World have them stashed away out of site. So can anyone recommend where I might buy one for my 8600 please? It's currently quietly getting on with converting a 60 meg Quark document to PDF, which it started on September 11 1956.

Thank you

Microanvika used to stock them - at an exhorbitant price, and I am sure you can get them from RS components.

Some Mac batteries are very similar camera batteries. If you have a good photographic shop nearby, it's worth taking the battery along and seeing if they have anything similar.

Thank you

Cell Pack Solutions. Their search engine isn't helpful so here's a link:

I don't know about Maplin, but I ordered a battery from Farnell while I was buying some other stuff. It claims to be a 3.6V Lithium 1/2 AA battery, but it is longer than the normal battery and won't fit in the carrier.

Well that's what it was called when I got them from Maplin for the PRAM in my beige G3/266, and the web site indicates that the 8600 uses the same.

FWIW, when I was tracking down (with ucsm help) a battery for my iMac 350, I found a (small) mac website where someone had had a similar problem with these batteries: same name (almost) - but one longer than the other. In this guy's case, it was from Maplins. (he took it back and they sorted him out in the end). Annoyingly, I just looked for the link but it must have got eaten when my opera bookmarks disappeared.

Jeez, wot a swinger. Back from a party and straight to the PRAM! :-)

Select 'Other Batteries' and look for 'Sonnenschein 1/2AA 3.6V'

Orders really do arrive the next day, post free.

I can confirm they are the same. Thanks to everyone for the information, a Sonnenschein 1/2AA 3.6V has been ordered this morning from watchbattery.co.uk at £5.50, including postage. Cheaper than Maplins who wanted an exhorbitant amount to post one.
