Setting up Sleeper on a PowerBook Firewire

Lately, energy saver on my PowerBook Firewire 400 has not been working properly. I can put it to sleep via the Special menu Sleep command and can put it to sleep by closing the lid. But the system will not go to sleep via the energy saver control panel which I have set to sleep at 15 minutes. I've reset PowerManager and trashed the energy saver prefs to no avail.

I have used Sleeper on a desktop machine for years with good results.

What is the best way to set up Sleeper to work with my PowerBook?

If I use Sleeper to sleep the PowerBook will the green pulsing sleep light still come on? Or will the green pulsing sleep light only come on when I use the Mac sleep function?

Your help is appreciated. Cheers
