Supplier of translucent iBook batteries

Does anyone know of any suppliers of translucent white iBook batteries?

Alternatively, anyone know how tricky it would be to replace the battery housing, ie switch a new battery's guts into the translucent shell of the old battery?

Jigsaw list them, but none in stock, but then they haven't got any white ones in stock either.

There is some info on swapping the shell over at http://norum.homeunix.net/~carl/mods/paint/ (Try the Tron Book)

Bad idea I'd say - and you'd lose the warranty on the new battery. Might it be possible to get the old one re-celled?

Actually, this is dead easy - the plastic 'plate' is just stuck on with double-sided tape. So I'll get an opaque one and swap the covers. Don't know how that will affect my attempt at compensation from Apple though.

If you hold fire on the swap until the claim with Apple is resolved then it won't affect it at all. Just try not ot look at the back of the iBook in the mean time.

Applestore have none of the translucent ones and the newer style will not be in stock till between 7th & 12th of this Month.
