My computer has started to switch off or reboot automatically a few days ago. I haven't installed anything new. I've run a memory test and it's not a memory problem. Any ideas what could be causing this? I'm on an iMac G5, OSX 10.4.9.
Thanks in advance,
MV

Have you run the full hardware test that came with your machine?

If you are sure that your mains electricity supply is good then you could have an internal power supply problem. Also check Energy Saver settings in the System Preferences, just in case they were altered somehow.

Call Apple Support - your motherboard may have components that are going bad - a known problem with this model.

Yes I have, everything is ok. The energy saving settings are the same as usual, too.

Looks like that might be the case. I found the following info, sounds just about right. I'll be contacting the local service tomorrow. Thanks everybody! https://www.apple.com/support/imac/powersupply/repairextension/
