Legacy Guides

Documentation for every major version of Power Manager is now available.

Power Manager’s history goes back to 1997, when we launched version one. Back then the software’s requirement was Apple’s System 7.6. The original documentation was written in HTML and thus has been incredibly resilient to technological change in the intervening decades.

Later versions of Power Manager’s documentation was marked up as DocBook; an excellent choice for technical documentation but time consuming to work with.

We have since adopted a less burdensome approach. Today we use a varient of markdown but I have to admit to missing the semantic detail that DocBook can capture.

Today, original documentation from every major version is available as part of the newly published legacy guides. These guides have been reformatted and tidied up for the modern web but the content remains unchanged.

These newly published guides complement our legacy downloads of Power Manager.

It was a strange and nostalgic task to bring these guides back from the archives. For those running older computers, Power Manager 4’s guides will be a helpful online reference. For those delving into the history of Apple computer software, the older guides will be a delight.
