Reinstalling Power Manager
How to remove and re-install a fresh copy of Power Manager.
Sometimes a fresh installation of Power Manager is the best solution to difficult to isolate problems.
Let’s walk through completely removing Power Manager then re-installing a new copy with debug logging enabled.
Before removing Power Manager, export your schedule using the menu item:
- Power Manager.app > File (menu) > Export Schedule…
Take a copy of the Power Manager preferences file from the location below:
/Library/Preferences/uk.co.dssw.powermanager.pmd.plist
If support is needed, we can use this file to extract your previous schedule and settings.
Remove Power Manager entirely from your Mac using the removal package.
This package will remove your schedule, licence, and preferences. What the package’s removal script removes is documented in the Removing Power Manager section of this guide.
Optionally, enable debug logging. If you are comfortable with the command line, use the commands below to enable debug logging by creating a log override file:
Open in Script Editorsudo mkdir -p '/Library/Application Support/Power Manager' sudo touch '/Library/Application Support/Power Manager/log.override'
The commands above create an empty file at
/Library/Application Support/Power Manager/log.override
. The presence of this file tells Power Manager to start debug logging.Reinstall Power Manager by nstalling the latest packaged edition of Power Manager.
Restore your exported schedule using the menu item:
- Power Manager.app > File (menu) > Import Schedule…
Optionally, apply your licence.
Power Manager has now been completely removed and re-installed on the computer.
