Power Manager – Advanced

The Advanced module enables you to configure the more advanced segments of the Macintosh's Energy Saving hardware. These options should be used with care.

(a) Automatically Restart After Power Failure

If this check box is marked then the Macintosh will automatically start up after power failures.

This option is particularly suited to servers, where down time is costly, or for remote equipment.

If the power supply is likely to be disrupted many times during a specific period then it is better to disconnect your equipment until a stable power supply is present. e.g. thunder storms or during electricity maintenance work.

(b) Automatically Wake on Modem Ring

If this check box is marked then the Macintosh will automatically wake from sleep mode when the modem rings.

NB This option requires a supported modem. See the relevant modem manual.

(c) Blink Power Light When Asleep

If this check box is marked then the Macintosh power light will flash while in sleep mode.

NB This option requires a compatible Macintosh.

(d) Minutes Before Shut Down Notification

This slider represents how long before a scheduled shut down notification is displayed. For information about what kind of notification is used go to the Notification module.

(e) Idle Time Required Before Shut Down

This slider represents how many minutes of idle time are required before a scheduled shut down can occur.

If the Macintosh is still being used during a scheduled shut down the Macintosh will wait until the user has finished and this many minutes of idle time have elapsed.
