I bought a 15G Ipod last week and the manual sez the battery life on a full charge should be 8 hours. I have installed 7G of mostly 3 minute tunes (almost 3000) and when I just let them play one after another I get about 2 hours of play. If I only listen for an hour I do turn it completely off.
What gives? Am I doing something wrong or is this a bad battery?
Thanks. Sarah
That doesn't sound right.
Shorter tunes, played in uninterrupted succession, should be a best case scenario. The iPod can pre-cache to RAM and spin down the disk.
I was getting the full ~10 hours on my first-gen 5GB iPod, and get ~8 on my 40GB model. I tend to play longer songs, but that should be worse.

Sounds like a bad battery - have a look at

and see if there are suggestions.

Was the backlight on? That will kill a battery faster than anything.
