I am looking to replace the battery on my 12" iBook G4 and I was wondering - has anyone here tried any third party batteries ? If so, how well did they work ? I was specifically considering these ones: http://www.truepowerbatteries.com/products/laptops.html Has anyone actually tried these ?
I use this:

and I've been very happy with it. They're telling the truth, it really does last longer. m.

I've had a madsonline battery in my G4 TI-book 667 for about 3 years, and it's still going strong, so I'd give it a thumbs up. www.madsonline.com was the supplier. The battery itself has the name "Li-ion" (which may not tell you much, other than it is a lithium ion battery)
It was quite a few bucks cheaper than the standard mac, which lasted about 1 1/2, although the latter's premature demise had a bit to do with crap AC adaptors failing to keep it charged. It's been a ridiculous struggle to find a decent 240AC-24DC adaptor (240 volt here in OZ - it may the 110 volt AC is a happier tale). My fourth attempt is an industrial unit that's half the bulk and weight of the T-book. FWIW, my second AC unit was also a madsonline purchase, but was less successful than the battery.
Happy hunting.

I tried the Newertech Hi-Cap batteries for my 1 GHz G4 Al book and am not happy with these. Of 4, one was DOA (but quickly replaced by Newertech) and the other 3 gave only up to 4200 mAh vs the advertised 4800 mAh. The 2 I kept also are fading fast.
