Energy saver schedule not working

Before I try a clean install has anyone come across the same problem?

If I try to set my iMac to power on/wake/sleep/power off using the Schedule function in the Energy Saver system preference app nothing happens. In all other respects I can sleep/power off ok, manually and using an app like iWillQuit.

I have tried resetting the PMU, the SMU and deleting the plist file for autowakeup. I have tried in Safe Mode with no other apps running as well and got no joy. I have tried looking in the logs but to be honest was not entirely sure where I should be looking and what for.

I too have this problem on an earlier version 17in G5 iMac. It has persisted over changes of motherboard and OS upgrades since I bought the machine when they first came out.

Maybe not what you actually (ideally) need, but iWannaSleep is useful ... I use it to sleep my iMac when I doze off to iTunes...
