Energy Saver: What takes precedence?

That means I can make the machine wake up every day at say 7:55 AM even though the slider above is set to "Never".

In the Energy Saver System Pref, a slider exists labeled:

Put the display(s) to sleep when the computer is inactive for:

and I can set this to "Never".

However, when I click on the Schedule... button, I can click the checkboxes for two items:

"Start or wake" and "Sleep"

and set them to "Every Day" and enter the times of my choice.

That means I can make the machine wake up every day at say 7:55 AM even though the slider above is set to "Never".

Actually, this is ideal because I don't want the iMacs to go to sleep during the day but I do want them to go to sleep all evening and all night.

What will work? Thanks a bunch.

Just to clarify, I want:

7:55 AM to 5:00 PM Never go to sleep 5:00 PM to 7:55 AM Go to sleep unless someone wakes it up

TIA

Se the slider to "Never". Set "Start up or wake" to Every Day at 7:55 am. Set "Sleep" to Every Day at 5:00 PM.

This will keep your computer from going to sleep between 7:55 am and 5 pm, and will put it to sleep at 5 pm. It will not wake up until 7:55 the next morning unless you wake it up yourself. But if you do wake it up yourself, it will stay awake until 5 pm the next day unless you put it to sleep yourself.
