My wife's iBook has developed an annoying habit of going dark at random
times. I don't think it's not normal "sleep" since it won't wake up with
any keypress; the machine just lights back up when it feels like it,
sometimes several minutes later. This is while the machine is fully
charged, and plugged into household current.
600 MHz iBook, running 10.2.8. 384 MHz RAM
TIA

This series of iBook AFAIR had an issue with the monitor connector or physical placement of the cabling from the motherboard, through the hinges into the display. Check with your dealer whether there is still a replacement program in place, I think there was for a while.
