I sometimes have problems with certain USB devices
causing my iMac G5 to crash during sleep or restart. I find these problems are eliminated if i set the mac not to sleep but to just switch off the monitor. Do you think its bad to have the mac on all the time?, also will it shorten the life of my mac if i shut it down alot?.

'course its bad. Think of the CO2 it will produce.
I have a similar problem with my USB KVM. Easily fixed by just unplugging it before I sleep my Powerbook.
