I have a 40gb iPod bought for christmas.
When I charge it by mains plug it charges fine but when it is charged in the dock it comes out with little/no power.
Anyone got any ideas why or how to combat/solve problem?
Cheers

It's a software bug with the battery indicator (henceforth know as the battery randomometer) that was introduced during the last iPod update (v2.1). It'll sort itself out as you use it.

Although, as has already been mentioned, the 2.1 battery meter is screwed up, I also read somewhere (probably iPodLounge) that the iPod does not charge over a firewire cable from a sleeping Mac and that it will only recharge if the Mac is awake. I've taken to charging from the mains adaptor and just plugging in to my iBook when I need to update my iPod.

That sounds like the problem - cheers all
