Mac Mini - cordless mouse hanging after wakeup from sleep

Occasionally when I bring the mini out of sleep the mouse hangs and the only way to get it back is to reboot.

Occasionally when I bring the mini out of sleep the mouse hangs and the only way to get it back is to reboot. Trying to pair the mouse and its unit doesn't make any difference.

I'm from a Windows background so not too sure what troubleshooting steps I should take...
