Is there a known issue with the Macbook not recognizing its battery? My wife's almost-new machine is in this state right now. When you plug in the charger, the LED goes green immediately; the menu bar icon shows an x'd out battery. Tried resetting PMU already.
None that I know of. Return the battery to Apple for replacement. The battery is probably defective.

She called support and they talked her through the same stuff we'd already tried - then told her to go the Genius Bar. Fortunately there is a 24hour Apple store in NYC. They tried another battery and it worked, but they didn't have a new battery in stock to give her, so they gave her an entire new computer. shrug she's happy :)
PS: Her MacBook is the friskiest machine I've ever used. It starts in no time at all!
