Is the Maplin iPod battery any good? Having rescued my old 3G iPod I find the battery lasts aproximately 10 mins...
I refer you to this:

My 3G iPod still works just fine, when it is connected to any kind of power supply.
The minute it is disconnected the battery dies.
Having installed the Maplin battery it is exactly the same as it was. When connected to a charger or power supply it shows the battery charging icon - but on disconnect it just dies.
I've taken the unit apart a couple of times since then checking for loose connections or any obvious physical problems. I've reset the iPod several times. Still the new battery acts like it was the old dead one.
Maybe I just got a duff battery. Others have reported the kit working fine (there was a piece in one of the magazines this month which alerted me to the fact that Maplin sell the kits).
I only really use the iPod now in the car (well I couldn't use it anywhere else now), and I can't justify buying a new one yet, tempting though it would be, particularly with a radio remote - because I'll be paying for my new iMac for the next six months.
I hope you have better luck than me!

Just unplugged the iPod after being on charge for about 14 hours
- scrolled to a song to play and boff - it died. Holding the charge well, there.

I guess I might try it, there's always the fun of complaining if it does not work. What limits does the warantee have? Does it say something like professional installation recommended?
