menubar clock not "waking from sleep"

say i put my machine to sleep at 130P and wake it at 4P ... menubar clock will read 130P. i don't have this problem when starting from a shut-down.

i have a G4 450DP running 9.0.4.

is there an internal battery that's gone dead perhaps?
