reinstall jaguar 10.2 on beige goes to sleep?

greetings: i/m having to reinstall 10.2 on a system that had 10.2.8 and became unusable after one of the updates in late 2003 (with iSight).

now the install almost finishes (3 minutes or so remaining) and the machine goes to sleep and won/t come back.

how do i get the OS reinstalled?
