I have a D-link USB2.0 card in my MDD G4. This card is the cause of
some sleep issues, but only in certain releases of 10.3. The 10.3.9
release works perfectly, allowing the machine to sleep and awaken
properly, as long as there is nothing plugged into my USB 2.0 hub.
However, 10.4.x brings the problem back. The machine goes into a
cabbage mode where the fans stay on but it cannot be awakened by
keyboard or mouse - which are connected to the built-in USB1.1 connector
on the G4.
Why does the ability to make the machine sleep and awaken come and go with releases?
