I own a G3 Wallstreet. I recently replaced the battery and was surprised that it now gets almost 4 hours of battery life. I forgot how long the battery lasted when it was new. My new 17" G4 only manages about 2.5 hours. Does anyone know which powerbook gives the longest battery life on a single battery? Because of this, my Wallstreet has a new lease on life and is again my preferred 'book for long trips.

Nice thing about the Pismo is that it holds two of those 4-hour puppies... :) m.

Don't know which has the longest, but I can tell you that my 14" iBook G4/1GHz has been running for about 4.5 hours this morning on battery power. I've got about 9% left at the moment. This is a 2 month old system, so the battery is still in good condition.
I've been using Wireless all morning, iChat AV audio chat with my brother, listening to internet radio (Car Talk, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, What'da ya Know, etc...), surfing the web, PPTP tunnel into work to read work email, reading news groups and replying to a few posting (like right now), etc...
I did lower my screen brightness a little, but not down to the minimum.

The current G4 PowerBooks are not frugal battery users - the 12" PowerBook is the best largely because it has the smallest display and slowest processor. The G4 PowerBooks have better battery life than the PowerBooks with the 14" iBook doing best because it has the largest battery.

That's one feature I loved about my old G3 PB that's missing in my new G4 (1.25GHz) one, the ability to hold two batteries. The newer one really needs it. It's a great machine, but power consumption is high, even on the frugal settings.

I'm currently getting about 3 hours worth on my 17". This is with WiFi, iTunes going, general surfing / e-mail and ofthen playing a CD instead of digital media files. It's also with Battery Update 1.1, and after calibrating (full drain, then full charge).
Before Battery Update 1.1 I was getting about 2 hours.

I seem to get about 3.5 hours out of my 12" AlBook. Haven't really measured it yet, that's just a feeling.
